Job Description
As a Truck Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating commercial motor vehicles to transport goods from one location to another. Your duties will include inspecting the vehicle before and after each trip, loading and unloading cargo, following traffic laws and regulations, and maintaining accurate driving logs. You will need to have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), a clean driving record, and the ability to drive long distances for extended periods. Strong communication skills and a customer service-oriented attitude are essential for this role. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle to transport goods over short or long distances.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating the truck.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the vehicle to ensure it is safe for operation.
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment, securing the load to prevent damage during transit.
- Plan routes and follow delivery schedules to ensure timely transport of goods.
- Maintain accurate logs of hours worked, miles driven, and deliveries made.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, fellow drivers, and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Monitor the condition of the truck and report any mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel for maintenance or repairs.
- Operate in a professional manner, providing excellent customer service and representing the company in a positive light.
- Maintain a clean and organized truck cab and cargo area.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements
- Clean driving record with no major violations
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test
- Good physical health and fitness for long hours of driving
